Everyone needs attention. It's a basic need just like eating, drinking or sleeping. It makes us feel like we belong (The Guardian).

So far so noncontroversial. Where the real debate begins is the attention interplay on social media platforms. It's commonly known that Facebook and platforms alike are designed in a way that is addictive (Zeit, 2017). Many of us are wasting an insane amount of time browsing through the shiny looking, faked life of strangers and promising advertisements on Instagram even though our mood decreases, leaving us in an absolutely brain-dead mode for the rest of the day.
